TRANSFORMATIONAL SUFFERING

In the last BLOG asrticle, We saw that one of the ways that suffering can be transforming is to focus on other people. How on earth can you expect me to think about other people when I am in so much pain I can hardly think. Years ago a friend of mine gave me a step in this direction. It is a prayer and it re-focused my attention…. joining myself with Jesus to help someone else. It is to posted it below. Read it slowly and carefully read it over and over again. Don’t try to memorize it. Simply read it five tines a day inserting a name in the blank space.

“ God so LOVED the world (people) that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

HE LOVE US SO MUCH? I do not know. It is LOVE’S mystery. All we have to do is grab on to God and believe what he says, take him at his word and love him back.

1ST PRAYER

Heavenly father I offerer this suffering to you in union with Jesus and His plan, will and purpose for (____________) put a name or situation in the blank. Believe me, when you’re in a two hour MRI praying a prayer like this over and over and over again what is many people and situations as you can think of is a blessing. It occupies your mind you have to think of the next person or situation. The situation could be your family a friend a coworker politics the world situation if you endless missionaries, you get it. This will get your mind off of yourself in a jiffy.

2nd PRAYER

Another one is rather more lengthy, but I highly recommend it because it has so much Bible doctrine in it that is solid. It gets you thinking about the God first about Father, and His Son, Jesus and His sacrifice on the cross. Focusing first on God is very powerful for prayer. Remember we are members of the Royal Priesthood. That makes us believer priests fully equipped to come into the Throne room of God. How is this possible? Jesus’s provided the (1st Peter 2:9)

Transforming Thinking

Why are we here? That is a good and interesting question isn’t it. It’s very powerful to exactly why we were put on this earth. Not just zas humans collectively but as an individual.

  • The first part of this kind of thinking is to go to the Scriptures. There are three Scriptures that emphasize the fact that the Bible says we are to be like Jesus. That is why we are here to be like Jesus. Not particularly to be happy although he will make us happy. Not particularly wealthy, but if you have the gift of giving, you might get more money than other people.
  • Ephesians 5:1, 2 Tells us quite a bit
  • “Therefore, be imitators of God, as dearly loved children. And walk in love, as the Christ also loved us and gave Himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.”
  • Notice the transformational thinking in this verse.

BE IMITATORS OF GOD. HOW?

  • Walk in LOVE. You’ll. know you are doing this when you LOVE your enemies, say prayers for people who mistreat you, etc. Recognize it? The Beatitudes in Mathew 5. The Beautudes!!! Now that’s transformational thinking. Be poor in spirit (humble in your heart), Be compassionate (or mourn with the grieving). Be gentle. Hunger and thirst for righteousness. Be merciful. Be pure in heart. (only possible through the filling of the Holy Spirit). Be a peace maker. Be willing to to be persecuted for Jesus sake. This can only happen when you surrender your heart on a moment by moment basis through the filling of the Spirit. 1st John 1:9 explains how to do this. “If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” I cannot emphasize this enough. We cannot live the Christian life on our own. It is utterly impossible to try to do so. Jesus’s must live it in and through us. He transforms us! ! !

“For those He foreknew He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, so that He would be the firstborn among many brothers.”

Don’t get to hung up on that word predestination. It just means that God knows everything and He knows what’s going to happen and he knows how to solve the problems we don’t understand. He gave us free will and He also knows how that’s going to turn out too. The word for that type of God knowledge is “omniscience.”. Omni = all. Science = knowledge.

What The Scriptures are saying here it is God’s purpose for us to become like Jesus. It was His purpose from the Garden of Eden onward, even through the horrible disobedient sin of Adam and Eve. God wants us to be with Him through all eternity. His indescribable LOVE for you and me and all humanity drove Him to send His only treasured thing in the universe and His eternal home – Jesus, His only Son. Imagine that God our Father could LOVE us so much that He would sacrifice that beloved Son so we could be with Him eternally. John 3:16 tells us,, “For God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

THAT is Godly LOVE!!!

  • Be as Sacrificial as Jesus. He loved us so much He gave His life for us. Who are you willing to give your life for? Or just sacrifice a point and then argument. Or give them a ride that you don’t like. Be nice to someone who’s not nice to you. What kind of sacrificial giving from the heart.
  • Be as Giving as Jesus. Have a heart that wants to give out of LOVE even or even especially those that are unkind to you or mistreat you.

So can you we come this type of person or by yourself? Might need a little help. Maybe the filling of the spirit of Jesus the deity living in your heart can make a difference. The Bible tells us that she just wants to come and live in us and through us only he can live his life. We cannot do it on her own let’s consider starting the day asking Jesus to live his life through us. And then when we don’t do that let us remember to confess our sands, our laziness, our little liescome all of those things that separate us from the Jesus we do LOVE!

HOW HE LOVES US SO MUCH, I do not know… “ God so LOVED the world (people) that he gave his only son that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:1 It is LOVE’S mystery. All we have to do is grab on to God and believe what he says, take him at his word and love him back. Please invite Him into your life right now. I would love to hear from you.
