Why quick prayers? as we saw last week, when we are in a crisis situation or if someone else is in a crisis, it is very difficult to find the words to pray. If we have programmed our minds with memorized praying that we thoroughly understand, the power from God’s throne begins to come down into the situation (“Thy kingdom come. . .”). But as Daniel found out, the answer to prayer begins the moment we begin to pray but may take awhile to get here. “Don’t be afraid, Daniel,” he said to me, “for from the first day that you purposed to understand and to humble yourself before your God, your prayers were heard. I have come because of your prayers. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia opposed me for 21 days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me after I had been left there with the kings of Persia…” (Daniel 9:12-13). There are many forces at work to prevent the answer from coming through. We must continue in prayer to God’s throne. As we found out before in the first article on praying the Bible tells us to “pray without ceasing.” (1 Thessalonians 5:17) Quick Praying is one way to do that.
MEMORY SCHEMES can be very helpful
CATS & ACTS
These are basically the same thing just rearranged. Why rearrange them. Well, I’m glad you asked that question. Chris, my husband and pastor, pointed out that Scripture says we should not come to the throne of God with sin in our hearts,”
“. . .If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me.” Let’s look at a different translation.
“If I had been aware of malice in my heart,
the Lord would not have listened.
However, God has listened;
He has paid attention to the sound of my prayer.
May God be praised!
He has not turned away my prayer
or turned His faithful love from me.” Psalm 66:18-20
If you go to biblegateway.com you can look up the different translations. They all tend to tell us not to go before the Throne of God with known sin in our hearts. So if you are in private prayer and can’t think of a thing to confess, start with “Adoration.”
Have a sincere friend with you? Well, maybe not.
So if you can get through at least ten minutes of just adoring God without seeing yourself as needing to confess your sin, you are an amazing person. Now what is adoration? You know. . . we do it with puppies, things that are beautiful, like nature, and people we love. Ah! See there are many things we can adore for at least ten minutes. I love to adore my grandchildren, my husband (a remarkable man), and of course nature. It helps, if we are to adore God to know Him better. One way to do this is what we call
THE ESSENCE of GOD
SOVEREIGNTY. Psalm 115:3. God is in charge, King of Kings, The absolute boss
RIGHTEOUSNESS. Isaiah 64:6 2 Corinthians 5:21
JUSTICE John 3:16 1 John 4:
LOVE 1 John 4:8
ETERNAL LIFE. Psalm 90:2, Psalm 139:1-5
OMNIPOTENCE. Isaiah 43:13
OMNISCIENCE Matthew 28:18 teee
OMNIPRESENCE Psalm 139:6-7
VERACITY. Hebrews 13:8
IMMUTABILITY. John 14:6
SENSE OF HUMOR Psalm 2:4; 37:13
There! That should take at least ten minutes.
Tthis one is definitely for the best for the very tired. You simply put a name by a letter in the alphabet that you want to pray for. Say you want to pray for Anna Petty so you just say her name. Yo don’t have to write it down unless you want to or need to at first. These will be people you know or someone has asked for prayer. Then you may want to use their last name, You will customize to fit your needs.
DO YOU KNOW JESUS?
If you have never invited Jesus into your life, it is very simple and easy. John 3:16 tell you how in the very words of Jesus. “For God so loved the world (people）that He gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not die eternally but have everlasting life.”
Simply believe that Jesus will come into your life and give you eternal life now and be with Him forever. He died on the cross, was buried, resurrected and went to heaven to wait for you. That’s how He made your salvation possible.
Please let me know if you make this decision so I can pray for you.
