Have you ever been in love? Not just think you are compatible, caring and would make a good parent. I mean the kind of love that changes your body’s chemistry, makes you crazy, and. makes you want to be with the object of your affection. Yes! I said object. If you’ve ever known a collector you know what I mean. They live, eat, sleep, talk and.t dream about whatever they “LOVE.” THAT is exactly what God was calling me (and you) to do.

What do the Scriptures say:

Old Testament: Deuteronomy 6:4-7 New King James Version (NKJV)

4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.”

New Testament: Matthew 22:3. Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

37 He said to him, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. 38 This is the greatest and most important command.”

This kind of love is an obsession! No! You do not have to worry about becoming a weirdo. You do that in your inner room. When you fall in love with Jesus, you can’t wait to be with Him. It will be all that you think about because you love Him, because you have to be with Him and because He is calling you to Himself in beautiful companionship. Like the “collector” you lead a normal life, you just LOVE God more than anyone or anything thing else. It will show in the “fruit of the Spirit”

Galatians 5:22-24

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith,[e] gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24 Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 Since we live by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit.”

If you that is a weirdo, I want to be one.

Remember when I mentioned the “Dark Night of the Soul?” This comes about in some people who have decided to know God intimately, personally and lovingly. It is also in obedience to the above commands to LOVE God with all you’ve got. See Henry Blackaby’s series “Experiencing God.”

That link will take you to Amazon where you can find a comprehensive list of his works. Don’t forget the book list on my other BLOG site, Spiritual Maturity

Search me, God, and know my heart;

test me and know my concerns.

See if there is any offensive[g] way in me;

lead me in the everlasting way..

Blackaby did not invent this concept. For 2000yrs Christians recognized this pattern. When we fall in LOVE with Jesus we are forever changed. The desire may fall back, hide, or rise up but never go away. So God must help us. He does this by helping us remove everything in the way of loving Him. It is much, much easier if we remove inner obstacles ourselves. As the Scripture says,

Psalm 139:23-24

Search me, God, and know my heart;

test me and know my concerns.

See if there is any offensive way in me;

lead me in the everlasting way.

Psalm 91:14-16

“Because he is lovingly devoted to Me,

I will deliver him;

I will protect him because he knows My name.

When he calls out to Me, I will answer him;

I will be with him in trouble.

I will rescue him and give him honor.

I will satisfy him with a long life

and show him My salvation.”

It is knowing God intimately, and lovingly that God wants from us. Not just service. GOD WANTS TO BE LOVED. One way to start is to tell Jesus at least once a day that you LOVE Him. Make it a habit. Also in you “Inner Room” sit quietly and think about God’s LOVE. Let the Holy Spirit guide you. Did you see the promise?

Well, you might say, “What about obedience?” I try to be completely obedient to Jesus.” Please refer back to the verses above from the Old and New Testaments. It’s LOVE that God desires most. not service, offerings, doctrinal purity or anything else.

If you have never invited Jesus into your life, it’s very easy to do just follow the instructions on the Bible verse below.

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that who so ever believed in Him would not perish but have ever lasting life. John 3:16

Simply believe that Jesus died and resurrected so that you could live eternally.

LOVE in Jesus

  1. John 3:16 is my favorite scripture. I learned about loving, adoring and going to Him daily from you! Not a day goes by I’m not thanking Him, pleading with Him, asking Him for help, grateful to Him! I do love Jesus and know He is with me daily. I loved this post, almost as good as being with you. Thank you Kathy and may God bless you eternally. Love you.
